PATERNITY:
A Paternity case is filed when two people that are not married have a child together. The Paternity case establishes the legal rights of the parents, timesharing (“Visitation”), and child support.
A Paternity case is handled the same way as a dissolution of marriage. One parent must file a Petition, the other parent must file an Answer, both parties must do Mandatory Disclosure, the court will require mediation and if the case does not settle the case will be set for a Final Hearing.
